Cupping
Stationary cupping involves placing cups on the body and leaving them on from 1-20 minutes. This is the style of cupping popularized by Olympians and famous people and will often leave temporary cupping marks. This is from the cupping pulling stagnant blood and toxins out of the area. With regular appointments this decreases over time.
Gliding cupping involves placing the cups on the body and keeping them moving, there may be seconds of pause. The cups become an extension of the therapists hands. This type of cupping rarely leaves any marks and brings the same benefits of stationary cupping.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine. Some compare it to a deep tissue, acupressure, or trigger point reverse massage. Special cups are applied to the skin to create a vacuum and negative pressure. It pulls blood into an area of the skin and deep muscle tissues, saturating it with fresh blood. This is where the healing begins feeding your tissues with nutrients and oxygen. This also sedates the nervous system which makes an excellent treatment for high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression. For most people this is a relieving and relaxing sensation.
